Dr. Ben Shepherd 

MD Family Medicine & Psychiatry

Dr. Shepherd is originally from Dixon, IL, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, IL and then graduated from the University of Iowa Family Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Shepherd returned to the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford as an assistant clinical professor. He currently sees patients at the University in Student Health and Wellness. In the past, he has worked as a staff physician at KSB Hospital—Mt. Morris Clinic in Mt. Morris, IL, at Winnebago County Jail as a psychiatric consultant, and at the former University Psychiatric Services in Rockford. He was also recently employed at St. Margarets Health until its closure in June 2023. Dr. Shepherd is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
