ADULT GRIEF COUNSELING

Grief Counseling Groups are meant to be a safe place where adults who have lost a loved one can share their thoughts, feelings and struggles with other adults who have been through similar experiences.

Groups will run for eight weeks at a time with enrollment of 12 participants in each session

Participants will learn to support each other in a world that does not want to acknowledge continued mourning past the funeral services while learning self-acceptance, self-care, and resilience. Participants will also come to terms with the new reality they are facing while finding ways to honor the loved one they lost. The group will explore resources and coping strategies available to them.

Sessions will be centered around the “Six Needs of Mourning” provided by Alan Wolfelt

Acknowledging the death of the loved one

Reflecting on the pain of the loss

Remembering the person who passed

Coming to terms with identity changes

Searching for meaning in the loss or in life moving forward

Seek out continued support from others
