Brooklyn Garcia

Recovery Support Specialist

Brooklyn works at Arukah as a Recovery Support Specialist and Crisis Worker. Originally from Colorado Springs, she has lived in Illinois since 2021. Brooklyn holds an associate’s degree in Psychology from Pikes Peak State College and is currently pursuing a dual BA/Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), with plans to continue her studies toward a Doctorate in Psychology by the start of 2026.

Her personal journey has been shaped by her lived experiences with drug and alcohol use, handling depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts/feelings, as well as experience with partner violence. These experiences have fostered a lot of empathy for others and a deep understanding of mental health struggles. She is committed to creating a safe, compassionate space for individuals at any point in their recovery or mental health journey, always striving to leave them in a better place than when they first met. She has experience working with a crisis text line, as a caregiver for the elderly and disabled as well as some experience in hospice care and working with children who have severe trauma. Brooklyn enjoys providing immediate assistance to those in need of help and offering a calming presence during their most difficult moments. These roles have further developed her skills in managing high-pressure situations and providing comfort to those in crisis or facing everyday challenges with mental health.

Her goal is to guide individuals toward self-discovery and healing, with the hope that they will feel empowered to move forward in their own journey. Outside of her professional life, Brooklyn shares her home with a beloved family of animals, including an emotional support service dog, a cat, and a rabbit. She finds peace in activities like reading, paddle boarding, yoga, or anything else that nurtures the soul. In both her personal and professional life, she remains dedicated to helping others grow, heal, and find balance in their lives.
