RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Janel has joined the Arukah family after completing her RSS education at NIU combined with over 20 years of lived experience with both SUD and Behavorial Health struggles. Janel has a passion for criminal justice and being of service to those struggling with SUD and/or Behavorial Health. Janel encourages self-advocacy and empowerment while offering a safe space free of judgement.  Janel is also a volunteer in her community. When Janel is not helping others, she enjoys hiking and spending time with her dog Hamilton and her rabbit Mr. Muffins. Janel works within the community to break cycles and stigmas surrounding SUD and Behavorial Health.
